This small town of Blowing Rock seems like it fell out of a Hallmark movie. The first thing you will notice while driving through the town in the summer is the impressive array of flowers and pretty stone buildings. The town seems to burst with blossoms and greenery! Everyone seems to take it slow and enjoy the outdoors. Most of the park benches will be occupied with observers. There are also dogs, so many different kinds of pets frequent this town!

The town has a lot to offer in terms of things to do as well. We will often spend a whole day in the area. We like to begin our day hiking some of our favorite trails that are a short drive away. A personal favorite is the Boone Fork Trail and of course we normally have a dog in tow. After we wrap up our hiking, we like to eat at The Tavern, Six Pence Pub, or the Mellow Mushroom. All those restaurants have outdoor eating areas where you can bring your pet.

After dinner we like to go check out the local shops before they close. They do close early so make sure to check their hours before planning out your day. We always get dessert at Kilwins and normally we get a caramel apple to share.

Before we head home, we let Alayna play at the playground. It is an impressive playground with a woodland theme. It is located right across the road from the shops and is beautiful.

If you are coming to visit North Carolina, or live in NC and want a new place to try, you should definitely give this quaint town of Blowing Rock a go! Don’t forget to bring your four legged friend!
