“winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and a talk beside the fire. It is the time for home. -edith sitwell”

It’s so hard to believe that two weeks have already come and gone. We love being at home during the winter months and having these doodle puppies have been such a joy! Our eldest is constantly asking to get into their whelping area. She offers to help change out the mats and walk momma just to get back in with the puppies for even more cuddles.

These sweet little ones have changed a great deal in the last two weeks. Their once closed eyes are now open and checking out their world. Wobbly legs transport them around the whelping area and the air is filled with little trills as they interact with each other. It is very precious!

The father of this golden doodle litter, Benny, has been tested on his coat and has 9/10 red intensity. I knew their coats would grow darker the more the weeks progressed, and it has tracked. These little ones’ coats are becoming more bold in color and it is absolutely stunning! I expect several to grow into beautiful reds as time continues. Jane will the be the reddest out of the group.

Alex and Cleo are the largest of the group by far! These two have pulled from their grandparent lines and will most likely be between 50-70lbs full grown. As of right now, they both seem to be more of the gentle giant type. Leo and Marie have the more petite bone structure, I think they have pulled more from dad and will be the smaller ones of the group. I believe they will weigh between 30-45lbs full grown. The rest of the litter falls in the middle of these weight camps.

These golden doodle puppies are going to make some amazing family pets. Their parents are equal parts adorable, silly, and oh-so-sweet! If Phoenix won the lottery, she would pay people to pet her 24/7. She melts like butter and wants nothing more but to sit beside me. Little Wyatt is already just like his momma!

I can’t wait to share how much they have changed in the next entry, until then…
